FAQ
Is my bank statement uploaded anywhere?
No. The page loads once, then reads the PDF inside your browser tab with the open-source PDF.js library. Nothing is sent to a server. You can check: open the page, switch off Wi-Fi, and convert a file.
Which statements work?
Text-based PDFs downloaded from online banking, from banks in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Europe and elsewhere. It reads layouts with separate debit and credit columns, a single signed amount column, CR/DR markers, amounts in brackets, European number formats and multi-page tables.
Does it work with scanned statements?
Not yet. Scans and phone photos contain images, not text. If the PDF has no selectable text, the converter will tell you.
How do I know the numbers are right?
Each row is added to the opening balance and compared with the running balance printed on the statement. Rows that do not add up are shown in red, and the closing balance is checked too. If your statement prints no running balance, the rows are marked as unchecked and you get the net movement to compare.
Can I import the result into QuickBooks or Xero?
Yes. Choose the QuickBooks Online 3-column CSV or the Xero precoded statement CSV before downloading. Excel (.xlsx) and a debit/credit CSV are also available.
What about password-protected PDFs?
Enter the password when asked. It is used only in your browser to open the file.
Is it free?
Yes, everything is free while the converter is in beta.
