Statement to Sheet › Barclays
Convert a Barclays statement PDF to Excel or CSV
Turn a Barclays statement PDF into a spreadsheet with one signed amount per transaction, checked against the balance on the statement.
| # | Date | Description | Amount | Balance | Check |
|---|
Did your statement not convert correctly? Download an anonymised layout file and email it to us. It keeps only where text sits on the page: every letter becomes x and every digit becomes 9, so no names, numbers or amounts are included.
Saved. Attach the -layout.json file to the email. Open it first if you want to check what it contains.
Barclays statements typically list transactions with a date, a description, money out, money in and the balance. The converter maps money out to negative amounts and money in to positive ones, and adds each row to the start balance to make sure it lands on the balance printed on the statement.
Because everything runs in your browser, the statement is never uploaded. That matters if you are preparing a mortgage application, a tax return or company accounts and do not want to hand bank data to another online service.
How to get the PDF and convert it
- Sign in to Barclays online banking on a computer (the website is usually easier than the app for saving files).
- Open the account and find Statements (sometimes listed as Statements and documents).
- Choose the statement period and download the PDF.
- Drop it into the converter above.
What the converter checks
- Money out becomes negative and money in positive.
- Start and end balance are used to check every row.
- Card payment details on a second line stay in the description.
FAQ
Can I use the result in Xero?
Yes. Choose the Xero (precoded statement) format before downloading.
My statement is a scan. Will it work?
Not yet. The converter needs a PDF with selectable text, which is what online banking downloads normally are.
