Did your statement not convert correctly? Download an anonymised layout file and email it to us. It keeps only where text sits on the page: every letter becomes x and every digit becomes 9, so no names, numbers or amounts are included.
Saved. Attach the -layout.json file to the email. Open it first if you want to check what it contains.
Capital One credit card statements list transactions with two dates, the transaction date and the posting date, followed by a description and the amount. When a statement has both, the converter keeps the transaction date, which is the one most bookkeeping tools expect.
Payments and credits are printed as negative amounts on many card statements, while purchases are positive. The converter keeps the sign as printed and checks the total against the previous and new balance in the summary.
How to get the PDF and convert it
- Sign in to Capital One online banking on a computer (the website is usually easier than the app for saving files).
- Open the card or account and look for Statements.
- Choose the month and download the PDF.
- Drop the PDF into the converter above.
What the converter checks
- The transaction date is used when both transaction and posting dates are shown.
- Totals are compared with the previous and new balance.
- Interest and fee lines are kept as their own rows.
FAQ
Which date ends up in the spreadsheet?
The transaction date. The posting date column is read but not exported, so each row has one clear date.
Can I convert several months at once?
Convert one statement at a time, then paste the rows into one sheet. Each month is checked on its own.
