Convert a bank statement PDF to CSV
Get a clean CSV with one row per transaction from any text-based bank statement PDF, without uploading it.
| # | Date | Description | Amount | Balance | Check |
|---|
Did your statement not convert correctly? Download an anonymised layout file and email it to us. It keeps only where text sits on the page: every letter becomes x and every digit becomes 9, so no names, numbers or amounts are included.
Saved. Attach the -layout.json file to the email. Open it first if you want to check what it contains.
CSV is the format almost every accounting, budgeting and spreadsheet tool can import. The converter gives you a choice of layouts: a standard CSV with date, description, amount and balance; a debit/credit CSV with separate columns; or files shaped for QuickBooks Online and Xero.
Dates are written as YYYY-MM-DD in the standard CSV so that spreadsheets in any country read them the same way. Descriptions with commas are quoted, and values that start with =, + or - are protected so a spreadsheet does not treat them as formulas.
How to get the PDF and convert it
- Download the statement PDF from your online banking.
- Drop it into the converter above.
- Check that the rows are green (balance confirmed).
- Choose a CSV format and download.
What the converter checks
- UTF-8 with a byte order mark, so Excel shows accented characters correctly.
- Formula-like text is neutralised.
- Unchecked or mismatched rows are marked in a Check column.
FAQ
Which CSV format should I pick?
Use the standard CSV for spreadsheets, debit/credit if your tool wants separate columns, and the QuickBooks or Xero option to import straight into those.
Can I get Excel instead?
Yes, choose Excel (.xlsx) in the download menu.
