Convert a bank statement PDF to a Xero CSV

Xero can import bank statements from a CSV file. Make that file from your PDF statement here, without uploading the PDF.

Xero's manual statement import accepts a CSV with a date, an amount, a payee, a description and a reference. The converter fills the date, amount and description from your statement, with dates as DD/MM/YYYY, so you can fill gaps in a bank feed or bring in an account that has no feed at all.

Because the rows are checked against the balance printed on the statement first, the closing balance in Xero should match the statement after the import.

How to get the PDF and convert it

  1. Drop the statement PDF into the converter above.
  2. Choose "Xero (precoded statement)" in Download as, then download.
  3. In Xero, open the bank account and choose to import a statement.
  4. Upload the CSV and check the column mapping.

What the converter checks

  • Dates use DD/MM/YYYY.
  • Amounts are signed: spent negative, received positive.
  • The statement text goes into Description; Payee and Reference are left empty for you to fill if needed.

FAQ
